These adventures can be through our Lend a Hand program for direct involvement at the point of need, or by taking a Vacation with a Purpose.

Lend a Hand

RaG-US organizes teams who travel to South Africa to work in a number of capacities. Although each trip varies, the typical types of involvement include:

HIV/AIDS and life-skills presentations in school assemblies
Eyeglass fitting or other medical services provided in free-clinic settings in impoverished areas
Work of various kinds in orphan relief facilities
Construction trips, usually related to providing shelter or other buildings for community orphan-care facilities.

Vacation With a Purpose

The nation of South Africa is home to some of the most beautiful vacation spots in the world. You'll not find a better place to take that trip you've always dreamed of. Once in Africa, you can stay at the Shikwaru Lodge, a first-class resort where you can enjoy some of the best in wildlife and sport. Known for its bow hunting, photo safaris, and natural wonders, Shikwaru Lodge has been developed over the years to mix the true wild feeling of the bushveldt with the comforts of home.

At Shikwaru however, your vacation has a greater purpose. All of the profits from the Shikwaru lodge support the relief work of Reaching a Generation in South Africa. And if you are a hunter, you can even donate the meat from your trophy animal to be used to help feed orphan children. During your stay, we can arrange day-trips for you to meet some of the orphans and needy children you will be helping.

Ubuntu Adventures

RaG-US organizes Lend a Hand and Vacation With a Purpose opportunities for personal involvement under the name of Ubuntu Adventures. Depending on the level of assistance you want, through Ubuntu Adventures, RaG-US can provide:

Travel arrangements including airfare, housing, and ground transportation
Training in life skills and HIV/AIDS presentation techniques
Tracking of the costs of your adventure, including receipting of donors who may contribute on your behalf
Education about travel safety, fund raising, insurance, packing, and a host of other related topics.
